Reef Aquariums: Do We Just Like to Tinker?

I don’t know how to explain it, but tinkering keeps the passion burning.

My corals everytime I walk over to the tank and roll up my sleeves:

Until a reef company gets to year 2000 level of competency and ease with apps, I don't want to find workarounds and mess with them. I have a sprinkler controller for my yard, a smoke detector and thermostat that are all better than every good thing about reef equipment all put together.

I don't care who you are, nobody likes to tinker with this garbage.

Most definitely hence why I stay clear of much of the high tech. No computer controlled gizmos here. The only auto I have are the timers on my lights and an ATO. I neither need nor want anything else that "does it all for me" seems rather than reducing tinkering many of the tech stuff adds to it. Hands on is my way but each to their own.
