hey fellow reefers,
Im playing around with light schedules and I keep hearing of people setting there lights up cloning the AB+ from the radions. can you all drop your schedules below along with a pic of the tank and let us know how your growth is doing. thanks guys and happy reefing

I didn't try to copy anybody's light schedule. This is what I run over a 20" deep cube with a lot of zoas and RFAs.

I've never seen much need for small spotlights of red and green in led fixtures that are wide arrays of leds vs pucks which do blend color better, but also create hot spots when compared to big arrays. Both designs have advantages and disadvantages. I figure there is enough red and green in the white. And my corals sure don't seem to miss them.

During the day my tank looks pretty ordinary. There is enough white to make the tank look like midday in the sun. But in the evening, when it's dark outside (no light from the windows) and the lights are off in the house, all that is over the tank is the Photons in all blue and a second very inexpensive led fixture running all blues. Then the hand picked corals that all fluoresce the best look crazy! Photos don't do it justice.

That tank is amazing. How long have you had that little reef growing?

You mean me? The tank is about 3 years old. But it got completely overhauled about 18 months ago. It used to be part of a 2 tank system, but I sold the 120g tank and completely changed the 40g cube. I'm always on the look out for corals that fluoresce or crazy colorful RFAs! The funny thing is, after 15 years in the hobby and having run 4 tanks for a long time, this tank has been super easy to maintain.

Hey how is this light schedule holding up? Any spa in the tank I think I see a setosa

Replied to your PM.

To anybody else following this... I swapped out my beautiful 40g tank for a new DIY 90g tank. The swap was hard on many of my lps and sps corals. So the new tank is just getting settled in and still looks sloppy. I also added a 2nd Photon to help cover the 30" front to back distance.

There is a lot more in my build thread. Kust click on the 'Build Thread Contributor' badge to the left or the link in my signature below.
