Hey everyone!! I am new here and need an opinion. I have the "opportunity" to buy a 48" Reef Breeders Photon V1 led light that looks to have seen low use...it is very clean. Everything works...all the LEDs, the controller, remote. The individual selling it is telling me it has about a years use on it, but I have not asked at what intensity. They are looking to get $250. Would that be worth it or are there better options? I wouldn't be looking at keeping it forever, but just to get me rolling since it seems reasonable price-wise.

I don't have my tank up at this point, but I have an 80g Fiji Cube tank with a Fiji 24 sump. I am slowly putting parts together to get it going, but am going to be building my own stand...and maybe a hood. I am thinking an RO Classic 152-S Skimmer, a couple Eheim heaters on some type of controller and anything else I have yet to consider. There are way too many options for everything so opinions or suggestions on any part of it would be very welcomed.

What are the dimensions of the cube?

The RB 48 is a long light. The shape of the light projected will be long and rectangular. Not cube like.

And yea that’s a great price for a very good light.

The tank itself is 48 x 20 x 20...even though the manufacturer is Fiji "Cube" it definitely is not a cube. I also think that even though they call it an 80g it is in reality about 72g.

I have that light and upgraded to the V2. The difference between the v1 and v2 is more increments as the light ramp up and down, a little easier to program and the lightning flash which I never use. It is a good and well built light, for the price you really can't go wrong. My tank is 48x24x20 and the coverage is good. These are powerful lights, I run mine at less than 50% and still have plenty of par.

Ah. I see.

Better jump on that sweet deal quick then.

Happy Reefing!

Fwiw , the owner of the company is totally cool guy if you run into any problems.
