Guys currently im working off of another users settings that I found online. The lights morph as the day goes by and im getting an average of 150par. Questions are these:
-Is it ok for the lights to just pop on and off to desired settings or should I ramp that over an hour or two?
-at 150par I would like a bit more output, should I raise it 5 or 10% at a time to get it up to where I want it?

For anyone that has programmed these off the remote you know how much of a PITA it is so im not trying to modify this too often.

I’m running two of them (one front one back longways)

Main photoperiod is 8 hours peak intensity with channels
3,5,6 at 50%
1,2,4 at 25%

My morning ramp up is reverse where I have white red and green come on first and the blues ramp up to peak intensity over 2 hours. I like a shallow water 6500k appearance for my dawn, the corals do fine with it and fluff up as normal

My evening ramp down is more traditional where the white red and green go off first and I enjoy a couple hours of just blues.

Peak par levels at the top of the rocks (about mid way up in the water) are 250-400 or so, and the sandbed is anywhere between a hot 75-200 depending on where I measure.

My advice would be to increase your blue and violet channels (3,5,6) by 1% per day until you reach your desired par, or if you like a whiter looking tank, increase every channel by 1% per day. The remote can be a pain but when you use it enough you get pretty quick at it

Floyd,
While programming can be tedious I write it down before so I can check what I want & have done making it easier for me. Back in the day there was only a ramp up for the metal halide bulbs & things did just fine.
We humans like the esthetics & feel it helps have a more natural look.
As far as increasing intensities I would not go more than 10% a week.
There are suggested tables for different kelvin looks on the Reefbreeder's website.

Ill have to check that out. I have two lights spanning my Redsea Max-S 650 tank and I think I need to get some more out of them. I think I was seeing ~75 on the sand last I rented the PAR meter and maybe 200-250 on the top of the rocks.

Looks like BRS have a ratio that I can go by. Blues at desired level, whites at 50% of blues and red and green at 10% of blues.
I think im going to start with 65% blues and go from there. 1 hour ramp up/down with 12 hour lights with a few hours of blues for night.
