Can someone please explain why people have reef cams. I just don't understand. What is the point in streaming you aquarium 24/7 and watching it while your away.

If your camera goes out you know something is not right, and if it is a temp outage and goes back on you can see if your equipment all starts back up. If you have a fish die or your tank has water issues you can also see it.

Mostly for when I’m gone for longer than a day and someone is taking care of the tank I can alway see what’s going on peace of mind for me :)

I just got one, I would not advise it to anyone tough. 720 HD with max 15 FPS.
The cable to position your camera is way to short. And the app crashes constantly.

I wonder if people share there cams tough. Or maybe someone has an api to broadcast it on the webs. Anyway if you share yours I’ll share you mine :D

I would like to see an 4K version with an camera powered trough induction by the magnet. With an App sure but also trough access locally.

Reef cam is the best investment I ever made.. piece of mind, can see what’s going on w fish... I even have one on my qt.. very cheap investment wish I did it years ago..

What is wrong with having a camera though is the question? I know I have multiple cameras on my system. I have a Nest cam and a Wyze cam. Will add more Wyze cams down the road.

They are cool to look at when away, but also serve a purpose for when someone is tank sitting and you need to walk them through something in case there is a an issue or something.

Nice old thread brought back, for me it was a no brainer to get a camera after this
Five weeks ago my office tank looked similar to this

And then I believe the cleaning people mopped water on my power strip and by Monday morning it looked liked this

So I now have a camera to check in to see if my tank has flow

I have one for when I am on vacation so I can see what is going on. I want one for my sumps too..
It helps me see what is going on if there is a problem. If need be I can see what is going on and direct someone.
Mine is on the cloud so it is easy.

This is awesome!

Which Nest camera is this? Is it in the tank?

No I just mounted it to the side of the tank with the 10lb velcro. That stuff is a staple in my tool kit. :)

This is the Nest cam: https://www.amazon.com/Nest-Securit...ords=nest+cam&qid=1557948994&s=gateway&sr=8-3

I would go for these though if buying from scratch: https://www.amazon.com/Wyze-Indoor-...ords=wyze+cam&qid=1557949036&s=gateway&sr=8-4

They are a lot less expensive. You can buy 6 of them for every Nest cam.
