Reef Cleaner Package

What type of snails in that number 40?

I usually do two or three Mexican turbos or trochus. Then maybe 6 astreas, 6 to 10 jumbo ceriths and 6 to 10 nassarius.

I have a 29 gallon.

I just picked a bunch of Ra done snails to get a good variety. I wanted to try some news ones too that I haven’t seen. But I guess if that doesn’t seem too outrageous then maybe I will do it

I am thinking of getting a package from them but for my 25 gallon wouldn’t adding like 40+ snails be a bit overkill?
Yes. Their "packages" are way overstocked. Get 1/2 of what they recommend, or less.

I think they also count on half of what they ship to be doa. At least that is how the one order I made with them came. At least they refunded me the more expensive snails with no questions asked, but personally I would rather have the animals to clean my tank.

300g DT, I have approx. 270 dwarf cerith, 40 nassarius, 25 nerite, 30 astrea, 30 hermits, and a sand sifter star.

Nearly 400 critters all told, just for CuC.

so with some math that’s about 33 critters for my size tank then. So 60 some seems high

I tend to order a smaller package size than recommended (maybe 2/3 the size), and then add on a few extra species that aren’t included.

@reefcleaners had the best dry rock too, I really miss it. The only stuff that would skip the algae phase and go straight to coralline instead.

Just throwing this out there because I've bought a few packages from them. I will no longer buy the dwarf ceriths. They are really small (dwarf right?) and I'm constantly having them get in my powerheads.
I've had good luck with snails arriving alive.

Do you do next day or priority?

@bvanfish I did priority. I purchased 3 packs this year and one pack took 3 days to get here and I still had very few doa. There are ussualy extras so even if a few die I felt I still received what I paid for. I think temperatures during shipping play a big part so I dont order during hot periods.

I did not follow the formula found at Reefkeepers for the simple fact, mine was a new tank, less than 3 months old. I think I ordered a little over half, after I did a lot research into the type of algae I was seeing in my tank and what all those cute little critters feed on. I am happy with how mine is progressing, even if I am in a Fallow period, I'll never Not QT a fish again, EVER!

This is it on Sept 12. Started this in a 75g Feb 1st this year, migrated into this 300g in April.

I am in the early stages, starting over after a hiatus, with a 5 gallon nano, but I started with 2 turbos and 4 blue legs. I always shoot under what they offer by a large margin and then just keep adding over time based on what is getting missed or overlooked. 1/2 your tank size is a good place to start and fill in from there.
