Reef crystal is perfect. Why switch?

This thread has me worried. I am getting ready to switch over to the Red Sea Reef Care Program and currently I am using RC salt. I do 1 gal/day water change automated through my Apex on my 65G. Hope I don't run into the same problem and wind up posting frantically on R2R while I am watching my corals die.

nope. Tank is in the basement. Noone goes there besides me. Carpet floor

I didnt want to. I went to the lfs and they only had the red sea one. I couldnt wait another week. It was the water change day. They said it was a better salt too.

Im not 100% sure its the salt yet. It could be just a coincidence, and the salt has nothing to do with it. Lots Of people changes the salt. Im not gonna say go for it. Lol

I did some changes today. I moved a power head, and lots of flow now. If was not enough flow they will b better tomorrow. Im running teo jebao RW 4 @100%

I have read about red sea burning coral after making the switch. Hope everything works out.

What is your SG? What are you using to measure it with? Any chance it could be allelopathy? How often/when was the last time you replaced your GAC(chemipure)?

Or a biological problem, like an infection.

Its at 1.025.
I replaced a week ago. I usually change every 3 months.

I took some of the zoos and dip them in furon 2.
I will dip again tomorrow.

I doubt it's the salt I use the same RSCP with good results. Just keep in mind a pro salt carries more calcium, mag than other salts lessening the need for daily dosing of the big 3.I installed a gac/gfo reactor and over stripped the water and saw tissue recession in some acans and discoloration in mushrooms. I ditched the carbon and started using half the recommended dose of the Gfo. I would lean more towards the GFO or bacterial infection. Have you added any recent additions to the tank? And did you quarantine the new additions?

I dip everything. My last fish was added 4 month ago. I shut off my GFO. Im only running carbon now. Im slowly droping ALK TO 7/8 ppm. It is at 10 now

What I meant by leaning toward the GFO was that it does it job well and that is why I cut the recommended dosage in half. You need some PO4 in the system I would say .03-.05. I don't believe the GFO contaminated theory but it could be possible? I dip my corals too but I would set up a coral quarantine in the future and monitor them for a few weeks before putting them in the DT. Sometimes they require multiple dips.
