There's nothing wrong with running them passively cooled, it just shortens life span if they run hot. Since your's are not in a fixture I wouldn't expect excessive heat, but you could mount another one of those black fans above existing one and point it right at the bulbs for extreme cooling. It's 4ft, knock on wood but I've been running them like that for a while now. I've read over and over that they need to be cooled but they seem fine to me. No issues yet but now that you mentioned it, I had an ATI Coral Plus bulb go out on me a while back.

Great corals!
Very cool time lapse videos. Are making those very difficult or extra time consuming? Or is there more like a learning curve, and once you got it down, it goes pretty quickly? Very very cool
Nice!!
Awwww! What tiny little frags!
Wow I sat and read the entire thread. I love the auto top off for the main tank, I'm going to be using your idea. Great work on the frag tank too.
Nice shots!
How come you don't say that about me?

Can't wait to see the update. Thanks! It's been a whole since I've updated on the system. In the near future I'll go into more detail. Wires have been cleaned up, bigger ATO container, it's just nuts now. LOL
