Hello I’m new here and I have a question about replacing the pump on my reef dynamics skimmer.
I’m not sure what model it is, however
It’s 10” diameter, 24” tall with an eco plus 1584 pump.

mid like to know where I can get a replacement pin wheel/magnet or an upgrade on the pump.

many thanks

Great skimmer. I am running an old INS135 reef dynamics with a psk600 pump. Jeff from Reef Dynamics used to sell pumps on Facebook. you may be able to find him there. Your skimmer is worth saving. the pump will be expensive, but worth it. Also Im not sure if a PSK 1200 0r PSK 1000 would work. Keep me posted if you discover anything.

I’ve tried tracking Jeff down.
Is aqua source his new place of business ?

I have no clue. Its really to bad he is not in business at all. The skimmers were expensive but well worth it because they work, and last forever. The last time I talked to him about a replacement pump he was at $350. I feel the price on the pump turned people off. In hindsight I should have bought two and a couple impellers. I have a euroreef INS180 Im not using and would really like an upgraded pump for it. Try Facebook or instagram to track him down. I don't have accounts to either.

Check into Sicce pumps, get the largest AC pump you can find, I think it is the 1200 model. There are DC Since pumps now, Tunze 9420 pump.

Any ideas on locating the correct needle wheel impeller ?

I found two extra pumps but need to source a new impeller.

No I don't. I would like to find out. there is just nothing. I think the sedra pumps are interchangeable with the skimmer. I will put a PSK on my 180 If I use it again.

The Reef Dynamics/Euro Reef skimmers the pumps have always been the issue and the problem, best thing to do is just bite the bullet and buy another brand, I am pretty sure your skimmer body is 8" not 10 but who knows, but if it is 24'' tall it is a INS 180, you could go crazy and buy the Eheim pump for it but that would probably change the height of the inlet on the skimmer and you will have to re drill that, one of the big guys on this site is selling those Eheim pumps when I remember his name I will post it.

Thanks
It’s an INS300

I haven’t found an Eheim pump large enough with a pinwheel impeller.
The eco plus pump is 1638 gph

I’ve read that an Eheim pump was an upgrade option for this skimmer.
I have no clue which Eheim pump or how to get an impeller for either.

Sounds like the Eheim 1262 was the “upgrade pump” which is odd because it’s rated at 898.1 GPH v.s ecoplus rating of 1638 GPH
I’ve reached out to BRS to see if maybe they have an impeller for either pump.

The Eheim pump was very expensive and is so now.
Have you checked into any DC pumps?
Reef Dynamics skimmer did not have crazy air numbers that turned into the craze when Vertex came out with their skimmers. Kinda more water and less air. A Tunze 9420 or since counter part would be kinda similar output.
