What do you guys think about 3 150w LED Fixtures above a 210, its 72x 30h x 24w. Does anyone have pics of their tanks with these lit and with dusk on? I'm combining my 2 75's and a 30gal that have various things lps, sps, anemones, clams, zoas, etc.....Thanks for any input

30 inch high would need 250 watt halide IMO. the depth is true great for 150 to penetrate appropiately. At least from my expierence of setting up tanks you want good PAR throughout to the bottom, 250 will give ya that for sure.

I was really hoping to get away from the hailides but maybe 2 250 halides in between the leds might be a way to go, seems like alot of light thou.

I think he was confused... Your talking a 150w led fixture and he's talking a 250w mh... There almost equal in par fwiw.... I would say you would be fine but I would think about some t5 supplements to add with the 3 led modules...
Most people with 100 percent led lit tanks are finding out that they need t5s to get the correct spectrum....

Yep I sure was confused I seen the 150 watt it threw me, When I talk about LEDS I talk in terms of how many are on heat sink, 3 watters. I do not taalk about watts because it variable on LED's. Sorry bout that.

OK, i thought that would be enough light. Yeah i"ll probably add T5's to get my blues i'm used to, but i'm alittle confused with the fixtures _it says it's like a 400w halide and covers a 30x24 area so i thought 3 would cover good on a 72x24 area? "150w LED Fixture. 50/50 blue to white ratio with two violet and two red diodes. 119 3w led's driven to 1.26w. Fixture is 16x9x3" in size and covers a 30x24" area at 8" above the tank. Par #'s tested in water are the following. 6" is 1479, 12" is 878, 18" is 553, 24" is 392, 30" is 210. As strong as a 400w mh so BE CAREFUL when acclimating. "

3 of those fixture's would cover that tank, but you need to put the fixture's 10-12" high above the tank. If you do that lps and softies will be fine at 40-42" but you'll have to keep the sps in the top 20" of the tank. I wouldn't put the sps more than 30" below that fixture. Those led's are much more powerful than a 250w mh. They are closer to a 400w mh in intensity.

Ok thanks luke..i understand what your saying....all sps would need to be 10 + inches off the bottom all the way to top. I'm used to them being mid to high in the 75's so that will work....what about needing to supplement them with some T5's? I kinda like it on the bluer side.

A buddy of mine has 3 of these over his 180 and he has sps on the bottom. The tank looks great too, these lights are awesome.

From what I have read... No exp. With a full led light system that sps look great in the led tank and pop galore but when they are moved under t5s or MHs the thrill is gone... The color is just not there without the LEDs anymore... I'm not sure if it has any overall effect on the corals health but most are believing the spectrum is off a little and t5s should be added to get it correct.. I think even bill from reef ledights will tell ya to use t5s with the led systems he sells... Check all his fixtures he uses them...

I think its tough to say at this point. I do know there are quite a few people that have been running led only tank's for around a year or year and a half and I haven't seen anyone with major issue's. I've been running led's only for 6mths now and my colors have never been so good and my growth has been excellent. Only issue i've had is burning some zoa's, chalice and a few sps. But that was my own fault.

I can agree with that Luke...
I now they are very powerful and can do some damage with out a doubt... I had a thread long ago just about the situation I mentioned... I can't remember all the details but I remember something about the uv not being there from LEDs to give a real true color... Again this is just what people have said I have no exp with a led system only... I would be interested in seeing pics of tanks that have been running a year or so with LEDs only... Maybe a led shot and a t5 shot of the same coral minutes apart would be really cool.... Come on Luke you like doing tests lol... Show us the money...;)
I know I just moved a colony from my t5 frag tank to my radium display and I'm very disappointed in my t5s.... The coral looked okay under t5s and I was happy with it but after moving it to the display the radiums just let loose and it looks killer!!!!! Soon I'm gonna go the led route but I plan to use a couple blue+ bulbs.... I love the deep water look...;)
