I just use rods food. I try and stay away from specific coral foods since they are so nutrient dense and can have effects on tank nutrients.

When I do feed coral, only when They don't look as colorful or full, I used reef roids or reef chili. I found the reef chili doesn't increase phosphates as much as reef roids.

I tried reef roids several months ago since there was the claim of boosted po4. Both my nitrates and phosphates were very low almost non detectable. I added about 1/8th tsp to my frozen food for my 29 gallon. Maybe every other or third day. I spot fed some corals and they responded well, expanding tissue and polyps. I noticed that my nitrates started to creep up weekly until the fourth week when they were 20 ppm. I didn't notice any bump in phosphates, but I was using salifert kits which are hard to read at low levels.

I stopped feeding the roids to keep the nitrates in line, but am feeding it occasionally now.

Frozen meaty foods. I have 12 fish in the tank. 120g. 4 of them are large. 3 tangs, one CBB. = higher nitrates

reefroids mixed with acro power for coral but only once or twice a week so it probably doesn't even matter. Masstick as a high protein treat for my CCB a few times a week. nori every couple of days for the tangs. homemade mash of whatever ingredients are available at the seafood counter when I make it plus vitamins and PE mysis. I'm a big fan of PE mysis . Freshly hatched brine nauplii everyday for my anthias along with cyclops and calanus and some homemade mash. They get fed 3-5 times a day. Formula 1 and 2 pellets as a treat when the fish beg for food, well not every time they beg because they never stop. I flood the tank at least once a day with frozen food so its like a snow storm. I turn of returns but not power heads and let the food blow all over so the corals and nems get their share. I feed 3 tanks so methods vary but they are all fed very well.

I have a mixed reef and typically alternate feeding Rod's frozen and Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef frozen for the fish and inverts (plus extras like fish eggs, ArctiPods, NYOS true algae pellets, TDO chromaboost pellets). For coral specifically, my first go-to was Reef Roids, but after hearing good things from a vendor at a local reef event a few months ago, I switched to Benepets Benereef. He said it was supposed to not raise nutrients as much as Roids. I know I feed heavy so I figured I'd give it a try. (I still feed Reef Roids too, just not as often as I used to).

I feed a RR and Reef Chili mixture (along with PolyLabs polyp booster) only when needed to boost phosphates...otherwise I let the fish feed my coral.

Surely it will depend on what I’m trying to feed, for fish anything goes, I just stick to frozen for my fish.
