hey guys i got some mushrooms and my dang hermits basically ripping them off the base they came in so i wanna glue them onto my live rocks and I’ve been trying to read people use regular Home Depot glue? I don’t feel that’s safe? I dunno i found online searchem reef glue here’s a link
https://www.amazon.com/Seachem-Reef-Cyanoacrylate-Coral-Mounting/dp/B00HWH7E1W

Would this work? And would should i do this take the base out with the mushrooms try to remove them by using something to push them up? And take the rock out glue into place and put rock back into the tank?

I have been using the gorilla super glue of late:)

That stuff works just as well as crazy glue from home depot. A lot of people use the dollar store cheapo, which also works, but I don't find it as nice to work with.

However, for mushrooms, I don't use glue, I put them in a basket in a zero flow area for a few days with some rubble under them. They will attach themselves. I also don't find super glue works for mushrooms in the long run (same with zoas). Once the glue hardens, they can simply detach from it...

Hmm so should i actually attempt to glue them or just turn my wave maker away and have them try to attempt on their own i have a 10 gallon tank so basically don’t have room to have them sit in for a few days

Yah the mushrooms are on this pad i got them from petco and i guess they used glue looks like crap cause all white crusty

That is pretty much standard for fragging. Mushrooms a delicate, anything else would damage them.:)

Exactly. The pads are fine to use, I'm trying to design a decent one I can 3D print, but I digress...

Just go to the dollar store and pick up a small organizer basket (like this: http://primedfw.com/wp-content/uplo...-throughout-plastic-storage-baskets-decor.jpg) with the holes to allow some flow. Then figure out how to clamp it to the top of the tank, I make sure the rim of the basket is above the water level so the mushrooms can't escape (mount it somewhere not super bright either). Fill the bottom with a layer rubble pieces, I like dead monti caps but it doesn't really matter, the put the shrooms in! Usually they grab onto the rubble within a couple days, sometimes it takes a week or so.

Once they are on the rubble, I then put them where I want them, or mount them on a frag plug for resale...

That said, they are probably releasing themselves because the crabs are irritating them. So regardless of what you do, you may not find a solution that pleases the mushrooms...

They are neat little creatures... I have a rock that was half red button polyps and have red spotted mushrooms... One day, 99% of the mushrooms randomly released and are now spread all over my 220 gallon.

Dude that’s just awesome, i have a 10 gallon but really want or upgrade only 3 months in tho so i wanna master the hobby than upgrade to something along the 29 gallon area but the lighting is just expensive atm currently have the marine orbit people trash talk it but I’m growing a toadstool pretty nicely

The marine orbit on a 10 gallon could probably meet the needs of some LPS, if they are up high. They are decent lights and the 10 gallon is pretty shallow. The only real problem with them would be on a deeper tank, or if you want SPS. The 1/2 watt or 1 watt diodes are simply not strong enough for the high light demands of most sps, and can't get enough PAR deep enough.

I have a spare 30 gallon tank and a similar light (but in a 3 foot bar format, and no fancy controller), I'm going to try to push my limits with it and see what it can produce. I'm hoping I can do some leathers, mushrooms, toadstools, euphylia and possibly some of my birdsnests that seem to thrive close to the bottom of my 220...

When you upgrade, if you find you aren't getting enough PAR out of the orbits, try a cheap reef light like SB or even the basic Chinese black box reef lights...

Will do thanks for the info sir! I’m interested in seeing some pictures of your tank if you don’t mind in the long run I’ll probably get s nice light really like the orbits control and modes just wish it was a lot stronger

Remember, we often think of mushrooms as corals, but they are anemones. You would not glue down an anemone.

Actually a mushroom just came off the pad so i stuck it’s stem into a rock hole hopefully it stays and he sticks to it “ hopefully “

I'm going to build the rough stand today and start filling it up! Maybe I'll start a build thread...

Cheap dollar store gel superglue.

I use shot glasses! Small piece of rock in the bottom, mushroom on top. Sometimes I’ll use an elastic and some netting to cover the top, but not always. Works like a charm and takes up hardly any space in my reef! Occasionally the mushrooms attach to the glass so i just pry it off and try again haha.
