Greetings reef family.
So im having an issue now with my reef, all my sps seem to be doing very bad, some looking even burnt. Now this tank has been a heck of a roller coaster. From black ich, to lo nutrients, to alk spike from bad doser, heater faild, ac broke, and now the dreaded Dynos. Well all prior issues have obviously been dealt with and resolved. But the Dynos well, they have been wrecking havoc for about 1 month now, and i been raising my nutrients to the current levels. I have cut down my lights to 5 hr photo with 1 hr t5 at its peak. But SPS are doing very very bad. Almost like burning, and stn.

Parameters
DKH 8.1 hanna
Po4. .05 hanna
No3 11.5 hanna
Calc 430 hanna
Temp 7

Dosing
Kalk 30ml over 12 hrs from midnight to 2pm. Opposite of my light schedule.
Hydrogen Perox 3% 6 ml at night
Microbacter7 and atm colony 1 capfull alternate days.

tank and equipment
Fiji cube 57 ext
Fiji cube 24 sump
2 radion g5
4 t5 cp and b+
simplicity 120 skimmer
10 lbs of LR i sump
Aquaforest rock 30lbs
Tropic Eden tonga flakes sand 30lbs

that the run down of the tank. Any help or insight as to why my sps are dying would br amazing and tips to take.

Any photos under whites of the corals?

could be just all these other issues stressing them out. I have had issues when po4 spikes, but temp alk all of that will for sure stress them out.

burned tips usually when alk is too high in relation to available nutrients and sometimes over lighting - but sounds like reduced photo period and 8.1 I don’t consider high. So the parameters seem to currently be in acceptable levels.

one thing I have noticed with sps is delayed reaction to issues as well as slow to respond to the correction. Sometimes even the correction causes stress.

Other issues could be stray voltage, or some kind of contamination.

An ICP may either point you in the right track or eliminate a possibility.

where do you keep magnesium? Also what ph do you usually see? How old is the tank?

I’m sorry I don’t see anything definitive, but could just be they are still stressed from Dinos and previous issues.

Hi.
Tank is almost a year old. Mag is at 1400 . I will snap some picks when i get home

Pics under white lighting will be helpful with assessment. Can be elevated alk, calcium, even salinity

Alk is 8.1
Calc 430
SG 1.026
Bring salt to 1.025 and if possible, calibrate your salt tester. Still need pics and other numbers to look at are:
Temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.025
nitrate < .10
phos < .04
Ammonia < .03
mG 1300
Alk 8-11

WHAT TEST KITS ARE YOU USING ?

Hanna for everything. Hanna salinity tester was calibrated on Sunday, with new unopened and un expired reagent.
ph is 8.1

Are you adding any coral food supplements? What products did you use to raise nutrients

Sorry i forgot to mention. No coral foods. I feed rods 2 times a day. I used brightwella phos and nitrate. Neophos n Neonitro

Neonitro is not the best option for raising nutrients in my opinion, I would raise phosphates a little more, around 0.8 and 0.1 ppm

Are you running a uv?
Do you know what dinos you have?

That looks like stn.

What does temp 7 mean? Missing a digit I think.
If you are calibrated, NO need to change something else! Leave sg at 35. Why stress them more??

Nitrate not <.10 should be >5.0 when fighting dinos.
Phosphate not <. 04 should be >. 08 when fighting dinos.
MG 1350 ~ 1450

Some of us actually read the posts. ;)

Here you go Tested again . This time with brand new reagents, that just arrived. Alk is still the same 8.1 as well as mag

I had uv on , but wasn’t doing much. Its not the dyos that disappear when lights are off, and then go to the watercolum.

For Dinos, I would bring those Nitrates and phosphate up.

nitrate 15-20
phosphate 0.1

feed phyto if you can get it.
dump the reef roids for now
don't dose hydrogen peroxide.

If all else fails, I've had good experience with Dino X.

Just be careful to caclulate the dose accurately. Too much will kill your coral.

The rest of your params look good.
