So I just recieved my net module, I have it connected to a wireless Bridge. Can some one tell me how to get it up and running. Do I need a laptop, can I do it on myreef 2.0....
Thanks in advance

I never used a wireless bridge with mine. So I xannot help you there. myReef does not communicate with the NET module. It is connected via USB and SID to the system. You will have to have something with a web browser to connect to the NET module. There is a way to get the IP address from the RKE head unit but I canmot remember the exact key combination to get there. I don't have my RKE hooked up anymore. I use the Archon now.

What you will need to do is get the wireless bridge set up and tested first. I usially use a laptop for this butt it is easy to turn the wireless off on it. Once it is working on the computer, you can plug it into the NET module and use the ip that is reported via the head unit.

How do I find the ip address on the head....I am technologically dumb....so some of you will get annoyed. I need step by step
So i swith the bride to wireless, and pick it up on my computer

Doesnt the Archon use the same modules as thr rke?

The NET module is one module that is not compatible with the Archon. It is not needed since the network connectivity is built into the Archon head unit. WiFi is also built into the Archon head unit.

Use the keypad on the RKE and select in, then select the NET and hit enter. Now status should be selected. Hit enter again. This will display the IP address of the net on the RKE display. Note this IP is only good on your local net and can be changed by your router at any time.

Not if you go to the internal settings of the router and set a specific ip adress to the unit.

You are correct, but you would have to set it up in your router to reserve that IP for the device. This will require knowing how to do this. You can also set a static IP address within the NET module also. Just make sure it is not in the dynamic address range of your router.

So I put that ip address in my laptop, and how do I use the myreef 2.0 app on my phone....so it sounds like all this needs to put into a laptop....

myReef is only windows computer based and does not ues the NET module. It uses the SID via USB to comunicate with the RKE. You access to the he NET via a web browser. That IP address can only be used on your local network. To access the NET oveor the internet requires you to setup your router to do this. You will also need a ddns service if you have a dynamic IP address from your internet provider.

You will still have the issues with setting up you router and will need a ddns service to gain access outside your home network. The Archon will have cloud access in the future, but it doesn't at this time. The Archon is web based so everything can be programmed with a device with a web browser. You can program an output with the NET, but you cannot program a timer or a alarm through the NET. As far as what is better for you that would be up to you. The Archon is more expensive, but may be worth it if you need the extra capabilities it has. Since you already have a lot of thr module you could just purchase thr Archon head unit only and replace your RKE head unit with it. You would have to remove the NET module from your system if you do that.
