Reef lighting

Ok so I'm getting a light with a timer and ramp up feature I was wondering what the best schedule is and do I run my lights all the time or do I have them completely off

There’s no exact requirement but many people run a lighting period of 10-12 hours. With the 1-2 hours being ramp up and last 1-2 hours being ramp down. The rest of the time is lights out
