trying to tune my ro classic 110int. The bubbles in the neck keep jumping up and down. It’s broken in for sure but isn’t tuned correctly. It’s sitting in 7.5 inches of water. What causes it to have unstable bubbles?

Also it’s not pulling much. I have two fish nitrates and phosphate are 0. Is it too powerful for my small 42g with light bioload?trying to tune my ro classic 110int. 2.5 years. Just recently I think it finally matured and all my algae went away. Corals look healthy and plumpI can speak of why mine would do that, water change. Changes the water tension. Stops after 15-20mins once the water mixes.
How long has your tank been up and running?
Honestly I got frustrated with it again. I pulled out 15 pounds of LR to get it in my sump and added salt water to the tank to get the level correct. It wet skimmed a whole lot. I tried tuning it. I’m not dosing anything. The Venturi isn’t obstructed. Super light bioload. I hope removing that LR won’t shock my system. Maybe I will put bio balls or ceramic in the first chamber. Also I have no ATO and can’t currently justify spending more on my aquarium currently. The water level is obviously important. I don’t have any sps or anything sensitive so salinity isn’t absolutely crucial.Okay, I think I have mine set at 8" deep. Half a inch shouldn't be a issue.
If you just got the skimmer, I'd say it's not broke in yet. Needs to build that "bio film" on it's surfaces. Once it's established it will settle down.
Now if the water level inside goes up and down, there could be a issue with your impeller. Broken shaft, bearings seizing.
If the bubbles go up and down and are large in size and pop, skimmer isn't broke in or something is in your water. Dosing anything?
If the bubbles are uniform but they rise and fall, could be an obstruction at the venturi. Not allowing enough air through, causing a vacuum at times. Take the skimmer pump apart and check where the air line goes into the pump.
Wait the first chamber in the sump water level should be consistent no matter the water level right? Am I special?Honestly I got frustrated with it again. I’ve maintained this system for 2.5 years and learned a tremendous amount. I’ve made some improvements and leaps. Next system I will do even more planning and have a skimmer dialed in before I add livestock and keep my hands out of it.
