I am think of getting a new skimmer. I want to get the Reef Octopus 110sss because it is smaller than my other one. How does this thing run. Go do you think it will do on a 90 gallon tank? I also have a reef mat that helps with filtration.

I havent owned one personally, I've owned other RO skimmers but the 110sss is next on my list. I've always heard nothing but positive things about them. Set it and forget it skimmer and thats what I want. The only thing that bothers me about them is that theres no drain plug but that's just a minor incovenience more than anything.

I have a RO 150 Elite , should have probably gotten a SSS but love the build quality and pump. workhorse skimmer

Yeah I heard that was the one bad thing about that skimmer.

It's a great skimmer! Small footprint for a smaller sump and great performance. Tiny adjustments are sometimes difficult to make with the PVC tube, but it's not too big of a deal. A drain would be nice too, but my skimmer cup gets some pretty good solids collection so taking it off to clean is necessary more often than not.

I was never happy with my 150sss. Overflowed or never skimmed. Could never find the in between. Now I have an Aquamaxx ConeS Q-1 and it is so easy to dial in and pulls black skimmate. I love it. Adjustment has a gate valve which makes fine tuning it so much more simple than the 150sss. Also much quieter pump.

How silent was that return pump?

I ran the 110sss for 6 months before upgrading to the Nyos 120 on my RS 200XL. I also have the reefmat 500. It worked fantastic.
The 110ss worked fantastic or the reef mat? Because I know the reef mat worked great

Reef octopus regal 150s.
110 gallons total water volume.
Best skimmer I've ever used.
Put on 2 neck extensions and even better.
Silent, set and forget skimmer.
Best purchase I've ever made.

I will look into that one. I am just looking for a small skimmer.

The 110sss is a great bet then. Small, mostly quiet and efficient. Anything with the pump inside is going to be smaller.
