Reef Octopus recommends 6 to 10 inch water level. So you should be ok there. Is the air valve completely opened?Hello, my Reef Octopus skimmer has been setup and running for about 4 months now. I added 6 fish (small/med) and a cleaner shrimp to the 75G tank about a month ago. I also have a few corals. Sump is 30G. I know it is supposed to take some time for the skimmer to really start collecting, but shouldn't I be seeing some accumulation? My concern is that I don' t have it setup right, particularly the air adjustment and the height of the skimmer in the sump.![]()

I would raise the skimmer up then to get it more towards the 6" water depth then and see if it improves. You can use egg crate to create a "platform" to raise it up. or there are acrylic stands you can purchase to raise it up without effecting your sump water level.Oops sorry for the multiple replies. If I open the valve any more it bubbles through the lid and the lid pops off. I have it set to where the bubbles are coming over the spill cup but it always needs readjustment.
