It needs to break in which can take a few days or give it a vinegar bath to speed up the process some.

I the vid won't work for me. But I think I might know what the issue is. Did you prime the pump when you turn it on? I think the instructions say pinch the air line and that should get it going. I had a bh1000 but somehow during a move the acrylic broke.
Check the directions like I said before try to pinch the air line to the pump with the silencer on it.

i have heard a lot of good things about the reef octopus brand protein skimmers. if i remember right i seen a video where a guy had put it in a 5 gallon bucket to let it cycle through and it only took him 3 or 4 days. also he mentioned priming the pump as well. good luck and let us know how it works for you!

Thanks for the help guys. I have everything working. Its skimming already. Working great. I highly recomend this skimmer.

I just purchased a bh90 reef octopus. Glad to hear you got yours working, I've heard good things about them

Yea I have heard good things also. It had room in it for my heater also. Im loving it.

Good to hear. My tank is in the bedroom so quiet is good lol

I have the BH2000 and it is a ***** to get started. I used to power on and off like 20 times (with the airline pinched off) until it would start (prime). Someone on another forum told me if you blow in the airline that helps it start. Also I suggest pointing that output pipe in the tank towards the back wall. And don't use any of the sponges that came with it.

Mine is doing OK. It may needs another day or two to break in but its getting there.

I have the same model and its been up and running for about 7 months on my 30 gallon + sump. I love it! its quiet, skims wet or dry. I dont use the sponges either. I think it took about 3 weeks for all the microbubbles to stop and for it to be broke in
