I have a Reef Octopus BH1000 HOB skimmer that has been making increasingly loud noises for about 6 months. I think it's time to purchase a back-up pump.

First, where can I purchase a stock pump?

Second, are there other pumps that will fit this particular skimmer that might increase productivity? If so, what might they be, and where might I purchase them? Thanks in advance for any help!

I would call coralvue direct via online number, before getting a entire new pump try just the impeller and the housing that holds it sometimes it wallows out and starts making lots of noise I replaced all mine vis coralvue directly for $22 shipped to my door.

Octopus Turbine Pump OTP-1000

Problem with these pumps is that they have mated plumbing. If your good with PVC I'd get a Bubble Blaster and install that. But you can pretty much DIY oin a normal pump and make it a Mesh Impeller. Or figure on another pump with Needle Impeller.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Coralmechanic, I'd never even thought of that, and I think you're right about it just needing a few parts. I will definitely give them a call.

And, Reefing Madnes, thanks for finally showing me a place that sells these things! I'll admit, I've never worked with PVC, and I kinda guessed by looking that I needed specific sized motor. I'm glad I now know where to get them. I may have to try a bubble blaster mod down the road though.
