Hello
So I got a new skimmer, a classic RO and the instructions that don't come with it steer me to the support dept. I ask what the setting on the adjustment refer to & do they hinder the performance related to the depth in the sump. You see I had to put it on a skimmer stand that is putting the skimmer a 1/2" shallow to the spec. so I'm asking basically which is probably a stupid question, is the 1/2" killing the performance because in order to get it to produce skimmit I have to restrict the out put way down.
So to make a long story even longer;
I get a response from the support right away with a nonsense question so I play along and answer and then a day later another nonsense question?
No answers to the questions I ask, which needed no follow up I'm disappointed a pen pal I don't need.
Coralvue support is a JO.
I'll have to figure it out my self.
Thanks for listening!

I use the classic RO too and would say the 1/2" depth change shouldn't impact performance.

I hate when companies do that with the questions and don't answer your seemingly simple question.

If you want any other advice with the RO, I should be able to help.

That’s great
Yea I have the water level in the sump right at the top of the skimmer cup on the pump & the adjustment down to 2 which brings the water up in the chamber high enough to bring the skimit high enough to make very dry skimit. My concern is am I killing the performance restricting the flow that much or will it not chang anything if I sink it another inch?
Thank you Ludders

If you do drop it 1" you would need to open the outlet valve up, which should improve throughput a bit. What does the skim look like?

This is mine after a few days of abuse from my fish :)

Ok you’re right I just got a email from the English speaking tech & he says 8” is the sweet spot refereeing to contact time & through put!
The skimit I’m getting is so dry that it barley clears the cover!
I went ahead and ordered the shortest stand from PM

My support from coralvue has been spectacular. I'd drop them a note in their vendor forum if you want an escalation. Their instructions from the site usually are pretty good, not sure exactly what model, but I know with my 150int the instructions came with a water level depth recommendation. Also tweaking a skimmer for your tank is kind of an art, and depending on your load you may need to restrict it a good deal, however usually once you have the right level the adjustments are straightforward. If it's a new skimmer it may take a few days to dial in depending on how much you feed.

Yea the third email I received was great. I wonder if the instructions were missing the only info was an inventory sheet?
I did get the depth info from the vendors website I wanted a little more settings info.
Thank you both!
