I just got a new reef octopus in a 30 g sump. Its overflowing. I lowered the bubbles to before the collection cup and it still fills with fluid within hours, this should be fine right? Dont want it going onto my floor overnight

They take time to break in and calm down. Have the value all the way open to allow it to break in for a week plus, then slowly close it maybe a 1/4 turn per day until your getting close to where your water level needs to be then do your final adjustments. Both my reef octopus classic 200 and regal 250 skimmers did the same as yours is. I think it’s due to the manufacturing oils, o-ring lube etc.

Yup...manufacturing process...i like to run mine in the sink for awhile to get some out of it before installing.

You could take it out of the sump and run it in a bucket of 50% RODI water and 50% distilled white vinegar and that will clean the oils and lube out and speed the process or just let it run its course.
