Hello there. I am planing to up grade my 30gal long to a 40gal and i am thinking to buy a new reef octopus diablo 2500 skimmer whit italian sicce pump.

what did you think about that protein skimmer(searching for reviews )

looks like a sss2000 with some minor changes and a cheaper pump. Reef octopus make a good quality unit and has great customer service I had a few issues with my cat2e and they were quick to right them. You should read on the sicce pumps, I have seen alot of negatives on them but have never personally used them just might be worth looking into before you buy. What type of skimmer are you running now?

The pump is a stock sicce... The only issue with them is some times they start in reverse.. Not a huge deal if they put a non directional volute "which they didn't" so just make sure it's running the right way if you unplug it and plug it back in... Besides that it's fine..

yea I saw these at macna and they are the 2000sss with the cheaper psk 2500 pump. I honestly just kind of chuckled. I would not suggest it. I a m sure it is fine but especialy not for your smaller tank.

actually i am reding reviews of the pump and they are not to much good coments for the pumps. i am thinking to look for another skimmer.

I wouldnt go to big with a skimmer( might get crucified for saying that) if you over size to much it would not skim proper as in you will have to skim superwet or real dry and get neck build up. If it to big just does not seem to make the proper head of skimmate
[QUOTEStick with what you got... No need to change skimmers IMHO..;)QUOTE] +1
