Hey guys I purchased a reef octopus 250 awhile ago for my 180g tank build... I know its overkill but was always told to get a skimmer that can handle 3x your tank volumme... The skimmer is rated for 600g with light bioload and 200 for heavy bioload. I Plan to have a pretty high bioload so figured it would be a good fit! Just wanted some input on how well of a fit this will be!

Tank will be fed 1-2 times a day to keep the anthias happy.

Heres my current stock that I have in different tanks that will go in this tank.
- (2) regal tangs
-purple tang
- flame angel
- paired clowns
- purple firefish
- yellow watchman
-cleaner shrimp

Fish I want to keep once tank is setup:
- (3) anthias
- midas goby
- wrasse (maybe)
- diamond goby
Also wanted to ask does anyone have any tricks to keep the skimmers air intake quiet?!

I think you will be happy y with your skimmer. What you may run into at times is it will stop skimming/foaming because its a bit over sized for a certain and then start skimming again as nutrients build up. The only other thing you may want to look into in the future is the neck cleaner as they do work very well, it is nice to go weeks before cleaning the cup instead of days.

Thank you! Yea I was thinking the skimmer might idle a little. And yes I was looking at the neck cleaner! I might get one

Nice unit, I know someone locally running the 250 on a 300 gal and loves it. I run the Regal 170 ss on my 110 gal. I really can not say anything negative on these. I remember being very surprised on the weight of the pump. Anyhow enjoy the new toy and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
