I'm trying to see there use a way to make an extension for the float switch that goes on the reef octopus varios pumps skimmer cup. I'm trying to move all of my controllers into a separate cabinet and the float switch cable is not long enough. Abby thoughts?

Float switches are pretty simple wiring-wise. And while that one looks to have a fancy plug on the end, I'd guess that the wires are standard inside the shielding and such...

So, if you feel up to it, I suspect that you could just cut the wire and splice in whatever length you need?

Note that I'm not totally familiar with that device; just a bit experienced with float switches in general. Cutting up a perfectly good product is always a risk, so do so at your own discretion, please!

A better option would obviously be an extension cable of some sort. I found one for their pumps, but not for the float switch... :-\

I did find out it is a 2-pin Aviation XS8 Connector so I'm either going to find the two ends and make my own or I will biy a float switch that have bare wires and connect to a breakout box on the apex

how did you end up solving this. im a little shocked at how short these cables are. im going to have to extend both the power cord from the controller to the pump as well as the cord for the float switch

I wasn't able to find anything. I think the easiest option is going to be to just find a similar gauge wire for the float switch and add the length in. Not sure about the power cable

you can buy an extension piece for the power cord. I’m looking for the same cords as you now

Did you ever manage to get this done? :D I am facing the same issue and want to extend mine..

Cut the wire near the plug and splice in wire of a new length. Same way you would wire a float switch for BOB.
