i installed a reef octopus Varios 4 return pump a month ago. It has run great until today and I leave today for the holiday....dang it!!

Is anybody familiar with this pump? I suspect the controller box is bad. The first photo it’s operating. Second photo, it self shuts down and flashes orange lights to the left side and the blue flow rate lights disappear.

Hopefully someone on the #Reefsquad has one of these pumps and can help you out. Terrible thing to happen before a vacation BUT atleast it happened now and not while you were gone.

Unplug it from the main power and plug it back in.
Push the FS button till off.

Good idea, unplug from outlet then push back in. Yeah, I’m thinking the safety float switch that’s part of the pump could be suspect too. I turn that off too. Dang it, I gotta go out of town in an hour.

Have you cleaned the optical sensor and float? Vinegar or I like citric acid to remove salt deposits.

Great idea however on a month old pump I wouldn't worry about the float switch.

If you have the float switch on it activated just take it off.
Problem solved.

Seems to me I remember another member posted a similar problem a few months back. Can't remember if it was the sensor or the controller. They called the mfg and were taken care of immediately. Good company. Call them.
