I have a reef octopus skimmer and it stopped making bubbles. The pump still works. I disassembled and clean the whole thing.

Is it possible that the impeller is no good?

Not sure if I can get away with just a new impeller or if I have to replace the pump?

How can I correctly diagnose?

Check your airtube for blockage. Had a user a couple days ago that cleaned the whole pump, but had buildup in his air intake tube, checked it per my suggestion, and it was clogged :)

I had a block in the airline!

Ok, Next update
Bubbles stopped the following morning.
When I blow thru the airline, no blocks? Also does not make any bubbles again.

HMMMM so you had a blockage and cleared it and it worked, but now it's not producing bubbles again but you checked and the line is clear? lets see if any #reefsquad members might know.

I'm not sure how long the previous fix lasted. I fixed it in the evening and went to bed. When I woke up no more bubbles.
Last night I attempted to get it going again, blew thru the lines and saw my large bubbles go into the skimmer, defiantly lines are clear. Pump is pumping water too just no micro bubbles.

Check the venturi to make sure you don't have deposits on it. I actually pick the deposits off mine with dental picks because I don't want to take the time to let it soak in vinegar.

I was looking at the venturi last night. Is it removable? I pulled on it but it did not seem to want to come out.

If it's like the 1000, it's only held in by friction fit against two rubber o-rings.....item J, Air Intake Device.

The air intake I was able to remove. That part is clean. No deposits I disassembled it and it’s clean. I guess I was maybe referencing the impeller?

If the venturi and airline are clean, it is most likely the impeller or needlewheel. I have seen a needlewheel get cracked and not spin while the impeller is spinning but usually you can see that damage.
