Hey everyone....I'm back with another question... I have a reef octopus 110 skimmer, a proflex sump model 2 and I want to have a refugium in the sump...the problem is the chamber for the return pump is to small for it and the skimmer to fithe in...so to save space can i attach the skimmer pump to a hose of some sort and just have the skimmer in a completely different bucket or does it have to be connected to the skimmer

I think it would cause too much head loss and would be inefficient.
You would be better off if you can mount your pump externally and drill your sump. Plus the bucket would have to be at the right height to return water back to the sump. I am assuming the skimmer can fit in the section you are talking about. Just not both

Do I even need a refugium right now? I don't have corals and the only coral I will have once I start are zoas and LPS like frogs pawn and torch...stuff like that...I'm a long way from the advanced coral...can I get away with just the skimmer in one chamber and the return in the last?

No you don't need one right now. A lot of people with successful tanks never had one. That being said, I really like mine, but it absorbs nitrate like there is no tomorrow. I just gave 6 gallons to Reef Life which is a lot of chaeto and I am having to dose 180ml a day of potassium nitrate. Nitrates are only at 2ppm in my system and only increasing at .25ppm a day.

Thanks
Randy

So I should look into getting one in the future...I want to build my own sump but that will have to wait...also I have 4 small fish, my question is will I be alright with getting a foxface and a yellow eye kole in a 90 gallon and maybe a gobie

Fox faces are normally very peice full. They do get big but are not as active as say a tang. I would put one in a 90 but not any smaller. Stary Blenny you do instead or is it lawnmower Blenny. I can't remember. Maybe some one else can correct me

Kole tang would probably work. In my experience they are kinda high strung so that may not be the best option. I think a chevron tang would be a better option. I have never had a foxface so can't really speak about them. I know they get pretty big

I have a kole tang and he dose very little as far as algae goes. My fox face saved allot of my coral. It ate all the algae that grew on it. Giving me time to get me nutrients in check
