Let me start by saying Ian at Reef Odyssey is a real pleasure to work with. His communication is top notch, very fast and thorough replies, not to mention, never failing to reply to me, regardless of how many pm's I sent him!
So, a few weeks ago, he posted a pic here of a rare Japanese leather. Being rare, it was a little pricy so I had to sleep on it for a while. One thing that was cool was Ian kept up with me when anyone showed interest in the piece even though he didn't know me. So after a few days, I told him I wanted it and asked about some stuff he had on his site. He worked with me on picking out some favia so I paypal'ed him the first time (lol).
A couple hours later, he pm'ed me because he only had a half frag of one of the favias that I wanted and asked if I would prefer a refund on that or a full size additional favia in addition to the half frag. In his words, "Easy decision." Regardless, it was a great gesture and definitely appreciated.
So we were going to ship them out between Xmas and New Years but there were some delays in receiving items here in Maryland so he asked if we could wait till after New Years. That showed me that he cared about the health of his corals. Additionally, he didn't want to ship on a Thursday (I get every other Friday off) because if they missed on the delivery date, I wouldn't get them till Monday and that is simply too much stress on the corals.
So while we were waiting to ship, he let me know about some really great ebay pieces. I asked if I would have to pay additional shipping of if he would just throw them in with my other order, which he said wouldn't be a problem. Well, I won four more items. The invoice was sent promptly and I paypal'ed my second payment (lol).
While I was trying to get a day off, he had another auction and I added six more pieces. Another invoice and another paypal transaction.
Well I finally got some time off of work today and we scheduled shipping from him to me. I got a FedEx tracking number as soon as they went out.
Today, I took a half day and zipped over to the FedEx pickup location and got the new frags. I took them home and unpacked them. The box contained a Styrofoam container with two heat packs and news paper. Inside were four big bags, each containing three or four double bagged frags. I floated the frags for a good hour or so to temperature acclimate. From there, I opened each bag and placed them in my acclimation container. There, I slowly added tank water in to finish the acclimation process.
As for the frags, they are huge. I really didn't expect pieces this size, and to be honest, the only other time I got frags so large were from Copps, a member on a different forum. The colors look great right out of the bag and everything seems really healthy. Right now I have them sitting on the bottom of my tank on a small frag rack with just low lighting on. I will slowly increase the lighting over the next few days to ensure they have an easy transition.
So long story short, I couldn't be happier with Ian and Reef Odyssey. I am recommending him to my local reef club and to everyone on here. If you are looking for something, shoot him a pm and I'm sure he will help you out. Definitely quality stuff and great values, especially on his ebay auctions.
