I started out with the dream of a reef tank and now that I am almost finished with my first cycle and planning for fish I am perplexed... My favorites are FOWLR (triggers to be exact). I have 90 gal tank with base rock and live rock. I would LOVE a clown trigger and niger trigger, but my husband just decked out my lighting for coral I feel obligated to stick with reef only fish.

Feeling stuck.:squigglemouth:

Go Reef. The colors of the coral really make the tank tons better and you can always find fish that you like. I thought I heard there was even a trigger fish that was reef safe but can't remember.

I've had clown trigger pink tail trigger and niger trigger in my reef the only one I removed is the clown at two years because he was picking up rocks an moving stuff around. And soon as I can find a huma huma I'll have him in a reef to, I've had more reef safe fish cause damage than non reef safe you never know tell you try

I have read that a Blue ChinTrigger would work with reef. Looking into a blonde naso tang and yellow tang which should do ok.

Reef all the way. I had a Niger in my reef for years until he jumped out

Reefs are more difficult, and really not something you want to get into if you don't have very much time. In my opinion, though, if you can hack it - do it. They're truly awesome with all the different and vibrant sorts of life.
