I saw the article on Reef builders which claims that this stuff will take out the eggs of AEFW which of course is the bane of all of our existences. I have had AEFWs for some months now and have tried a bunch of stuff which has helped but has not eradicated them. We did our first dip tonight so I will keep you guys updated. The goal is to do weekly dips and inspect the acros to see if we see fresh bites or eggs. So far the acros look fine, we stuck to the directions on the bottle, using measuring cups and syringes to make sure we had accurate amounts of the solution. We kept a stop watch on the time to get as close to 15 mins as possible and we rinsed them before we put them back in.

Bayer is the slayer of all. Havn't found anything else as good. Good luck with the RP solutions.

Did you use a qt tank after you dipped like they say to use or did you rinse and return to the display? I'm very curious about this stuff and will be following

It is going into our frag system which is plumbed into the main system.

Ok so 24 hours later and all the frags look great. Full polyp extension and good color. Can't say the dip had any negative effects on the frags.

Keep us posted. I trust my Bayer but its nice to see another product "marketed" specifically for reef use

I've read this stuff is very HARSH stuff. it works. killing the eggs isnt PROVEN yet. but it kills AEFW instantly. there is actually a test going otn ATM on RC to see if this stuff actually works.

Be very cautious about this stuff. if not washed in a seperate bucket of tank water it will kill your inverts if not washed VERY WELL!

So what is this going to do to us when we handle it. Pretty wild that you need gallons of rinse to get it off a frag

Don't touch it duh. As with any dip... gloves and tweezers. Especially Bayer, I've had my own lawn care business and those kinds of products aren't designed for skin care that's for sure ;)

All sorts of pods and bristle stars came off very quickly. As I stated in the first post we measured very very carefully as not to overdose and we used a stop watch. We rinsed and swirled with tank water (from our water change) and changed that water after we rinsed a group of sps.

Rps

On RC the guy dipped and shows microscopic images of the AEFW and so far it doesnt look like i effected the eggs in any way. You can actually see the embryos splitting in the egg sack. I tried the Bayer 2 times in a row and i did see things coming off but a week later i dipped again in Melafix the 3rd week and so many tiny looking black flatworm/bug came off. This was the 2nd week dipping in melafix and they are still coming off but not as many. So apparently the Bayer doesnt kill everything. I still want to try and identify what those creatures are. They look like flatworms, same body shape yet it looks like they have legs. Im sticking with melafix till more research is done on the RPS. So far my favorite dip is melafix and i tried seachem, coral RX,Bayer and a couple others that i cant remember right now :)

So far everything looks good. We will be re-dipping and observing on Monday so I will do an update then.

Another quick update. We took a look at all the sps last night and no aefw, no bites and no eggs. We will probably dip again just to make sure.
