Yeah. Sorry for the language. I was extremely cross with myself for upsetting the system when it was working so well.

:-( . I am afraid that I cant decipher the error log. Its definitely an UI error, so the controller itself is working fine, but the UI code (that runs in your browser) has a bug where its trying to access a some configuration thats not present, probably a wrong or invalid settings.
One thing we can check is the dashboard settings using straight API (thus bypassing the UI), if its something invalid, then fix it (using API) and then hopefully the UI will work again.
For that, you can try this, to obtain the dashboard settings

 curl -u <username>:<password> http://localhost:8080/api/dashboard
Use the appropriate username and password you have set, by default its reef-pi (both username and password)
Share the settings here, I can audit it for you.
 
I suspect you're already aware, but just in case. PLA will break down in saltwater but is safe otherwise, and ABS is consider "reef safe'ish", though there are some question regarding the pigments. I personally believe that natural PET should be safe as well. And everything but ASA will suffer to various degrees under the our lights.


I had read some comment about the different materials. What about in this instance where the material is not in direct contact with the water? It's just sitting on the edge.

I use PLA alot when it's not in direct contact and judging by some of the other post I'd be willing to try it in contact as well.
 
ok this has been fun , but 3d prints will fail as plumbing parts................. I have been 3d printing for over 5 years now and do a lot for local reef club.

This is my enclosure for the control board and the small is a ATO remote.

Again Please be careful with 3d Prints. not all filament is created equal, you get what you pay for. Unless its a 100 % infill for plumbing dont even try. the type of filament will not matter I have pla in my tank for 3 years and no a problem . but from experienceand a lot of flooding 3d print for plumbing is a NO NO.

I do have another question - My first part of this build is going to be a ATO. I see the instructions on the get hub page but the wiring guide is missing some detail. Again you'll have to forgive me because i am new this kind of tinkering. Would anyone be able to provide more info on how to wire the water level sensor to the pi (pictures would work)? The wiring guide shows how to hook it up to the DFRduino UNO but i am naive and can't picture how it would work to the pi . Also If anyone has made any modifications to the ATO system this would be a good time to speak up as I am open to new idea's.

Thank you for adding your experience, I'm learning that a lot of the rumors of PLAs degrading characteristics don't seem to be true.

there are three pins one for 5v, one for GND and the data pin can be connected to any of the GPIO, check the recommended wiring.

These enclosures looks awesome. I currently spend at least 10-25$ for enclosures , for each build. And they also requires decent amount of drilling for standoffs, panel mount jacks etc. 3d printed designs should be cheaper as well as free of any fabrication requirement.

If you do publish the 3d designs, please tag them with #reef-pi, whenever I plan to print mines, I can search them all easily :-)
 
I think this covers it for the most part.. The relays Are not yet in there box. The outlets will be in Several different locations along the Sump wall . Close to equipment they will Control..

You should not worry about it at all. You will never ask a question that we'll not like. I myself learned things along the way, so completely understand that. I think getting a reef-pi build has more to do with not giving up and systematically fixing the errors in multiple attempts than being an expert on coding or electronics. You'll learn along the way,, pretty much everything

OK. Another school session for me, but I eventually got it right (yay!)

Below is the Dashboard Settings. I suspect that the problem is with "width":800 which is what I changed directly before I started to have the problem. How do I change it from the terminal?

For some reason, the settings has 5 rows and 1 column, while the details are 4x2 , i.e. 4 rows ans 2 columns. Thats what causing the problem. You can save the dashboard settings in a file, then edit it to fix it, and then update it using the API back. here is how
1) To save the current dashboard settings in a file do this:

2) then edit the dashboard.json file and change the rows number to 1 (just to be safe, once the UI is working you can set this again ), and save the dashboard.json file
3) Update the dashboard settings using API

No worries :-) , it is a code bug , and I'll definitely add necessary measure to not let this happen. Your testing is a great help for an open source project like reef-pi.

Well I can not talk about helping anyone with 3d prints or parts on this site, I was told not to do this from the admin. So if you need any thing send me a PM and we will talk through e-mail. I was helping some members with some test kit parts and they removed our post. But I will be more than happy to help.

Yes it is ..

I did have two strange things happen.. But Because of the storms we have been having intermittent network issues. Might just be that.

1. OUTLET ISSUE... I Created all the Outlets.. Outlet 1 Lost its Name Tag and stopped functioning.. It refused to allow me to delete that outlet. I had to clear database.. ( not happened again sense
2. Similar issue with the RGB Light channel.. But again it cleared up.. Resources on pi show low usage but I am wondering if creating everything all at once might be doing it..


Things That would be Awesome to have.
A Auto backup button of the Database,, To keep several Copies while sitting things up. ( Or other means to go back)

Ability to Edit Relays, Inlets, Jacks, and all other items Without deleting and re-adding..

Water Change tab that can use float switches to control either Dosing pump (JACKS ) Or Ac pumps (relays) Yes i know it can be done now..


I have a Question.. What is the best way to assign a Static Ip to the pi..
