reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

@Ranjib are you saying that the pwm signal is powered from the pi connection via vcc, and the terminal block is only a power supply for the V+ buss? I guess when looking at it as servo based that would make sense to me....

@Brad Cox what version of reef-pi are you running? Evidently I am running a now "old" version, although I will say it has been very stable for lighting.:)
Yes. For me this worked just fine, as the pwm signal is derived from vcc, and I expect current draw by kessil less than 100ma. We power Raspberry with 2.5 amp connection, Pi uses around 1Amp, rest is for these use cases.

Yeah, lot have changes since then :-) I'll request waiting for couple of days more, till I merge the last dynamic channel/jack patch. After that the configuration file should not matter a lot, otherwise you have to muck with yaml a bit

So how do i need to setup just two channels? Do i need to set anything else? Or why dont i have a pwm?

:) LOL I guess I can delete 2 wires from my install. Sorry Brad for misleading you. I guess this is all part of the learning process.

Exactlly! Im learning too.
I just dont know why im hooked up and i dont have any pwm on pins 0-1.
I think imma have to set a relay to power off these leds. When i have them dimmed all the way down they are still on. But dim.

Still nothing. I do have 5volts now from ground to v+ but no output on pwm

Last time i checked your configuration was wrong, use `jacks` instead of `channels`. I have shared example couple of posts before. Can you share the current config file ?

Check the logs,, what the log says? it should mention about what values of pwm its setting (o-100) and against what pin. If thats correct, we have some serious bug or wrong wiring

@Ranjib Brad should still be able to get pwm working in the .7 build shouldn't he? I have had it working in every build thus far...
Because the configuration format has changed, I believe his settings are not propagated, i.e pwm is enabled but there is no channel (they have been renamed as jacks)

I have rewritten the whole UI/Configuration -> pwm code path recently :0/ , as part of a major dynamic lighting implementation.

So this affects all prior builds? I have had reef-pi down a couple days as I am doing some rewire work.
