reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

Thanks.

A feed mode button would definitely useful. I assume the functionality would be something like:

Press button, pumps and skimmer turn off for "X" period of time (10 minutes?) before resuming normal operation.

That was the thinking, possibly even turning off the powerheads\wavemakers as well. This can be done by the timer as well, but a button would be useful without being tied to a certain time. It could be used to do a rescue, to move a rock, stop the surface agitation to see something at the bottom, scrape algae (my issue right now) etc.

Oh, yeah, definitely. I wouldn't see it being useful unless all flow was shut down. Skimmer pump, return pump, powerheads, wavemakers, etc. If it moves water, it would be good to be on a "shut down all movement for emergency or feeding" sort of function.

just updated to 0.6! Did the update on the way to work and haven't had a chance to completely take a look at the updates for relay yet.
Just noticed this on my equipments page.

not really a concern for me, but just wanted to update it here so if you decide to change it in future.

What are you using for your remote connection?
I was thinking about trying to get TOR running this weekend.
I am using VNC viewer for now, but not a fan. I travel quite a bit for work, so I heavily rely on VNC and my security cam to monitor the tank when I am gone.

New release is up and running.
The validations are working very well, this should definitly help the overall system health.
Also, I really like the color change on the On/Off for the equipment tab. I think that it relays the pertinent information better.
Thanks again for all of your work.
I am curious if the temperature controller is working as expected now . Let me know . We can’t hit 1.0 release with serious bugs

I have been monitoring mine remotely since the update every few minutes. I left the controller as is from before, fan on heater and heater on cooler, it's only working for me in this way, i see that my tank is warming up.. will keep obersrivng to see if I notice any changes.

I would imagine that a creative use of DynDNS and port forwarding on your router should allow you both shell access and access to the web front end, especially if your router supports a Dynamic DNS service in its configuration.

Are you using the new ‘reverse’ option in the outlet ? This feature allows you to use NO relay , which works opposite to normal reef-pi logic

would I have to delete the equipment and re assign them to see this option?
Yes. You have to recreate the outlets and then equipment, then assign them to temperature controller. Unfortunately reefpi UI still don’t allow editing objects.
If you are up for some command line foo, then I can share an example curl command to update existing outlet

not sure if I am ready for that yet. I will recreate the outlets and equipment in some time. will monitor and get back to the group.

So, instead of changing anything on the temperature controller, I tried experimenting with one of the empty relay slots.
I wasn't using relay 1 (GPIO 26), so I assigned it as outlet 1 with the reverse option selected.
I labeled it as 'test' under equipments, now when it shows as 'on' in the UI it's actually off and when UI says its 'off' its actually on.

Previously, on the equipment page, when it shows as 'on' the relay was actually on, and sending power through. I just had to assume the opposite under timer page when creating a job.

I am trying to wrap my head around this again, just so I am not missing anything. @Ryan115, please let me know if this is exactly the same you are seeing as well.

My assumption on the relay board being the same model as others are using, and integrates the same way as it should is that when an equipment's status is 'on' its actually sending power through. It's only reversed when I choose the option to reverse it when creating the outlet.

So, if this is true, I am not sure why I will have to choose the option to turn an equipment 'off' to actually turn it on and let power through and likewise to turn the equipment off, under the timers tab.

under the temperature tab, I am still having a hard time explaining the issue I am seeing. The only way I am successful in regulating the temperature is when i have fans assigned under heater and heater assigned under cooler.

the text in those buttons reflect action, color reflect state.
