Reef Pi Build

Ok is there a way to add current monitoring to the outlets?
Need to figure out how to replicate something like this https://shop.controleverything.com/...c-current-monitor-for-i2c?variant=25688334347 or have software be able to compare what devices are on vs what the current usage is. I'm not a software guru, so no idea how to integrate either idea into the reef-pi. I have the current monitor on the input to the reef-pi and I just turn devices on or off to see individual power usage.
 
No I actually scrapped that part of the build. If the power was turned off to the GFCI it tripped and needed to be manually reset so I just used the fused power switch.
That shouldn't happen. What terminals did you hook hot and neutral to, line or load?

This is the plug I used and this is how it was wired. I checked the power cord with a multi meter to make sure the wires were correct.

Ahhh, a plug in style, thought you were talking about a hard wired GFCI. Does (did) it trip when you just unplugged it with nothing plugged in to it? If so, that may be by design.

Yeah that's exactly what it did so I just scrapped it and run everything from a GFCI in the wall.

The fabri-cobbling (nod to AVE), I can do... The designing, not so much, need diagrams ;Bucktooth. I can navigate Linux just fine, edit stuff as long as I have the script to copy from. Haven't played with I2C yet, still have this board to install for my pump speed control and then I can check it out. Maybe this weekend.

Would love to have this feature. Not super important but it would be neat. I have no idea how to make it work. Lol. Maybe once I start building this thing and learning......
Are you wanting to monitor each device or just overall? For a permanent install, the second option would require one for each device you want to monitor. Currently there is no support for monitoring in reef-pi BUT there are a number of options to turn a Raspberry Pi in to a current monitor. Some , but most are prohibitively expensive or not available in a form factor suitable for home aquarium. New things employ titration based solutions . I think a general purpose titration system will be more doable

I think we ca pn bring adc support in reef-pi , via ads115 breakout from adafruit
