If I get something like this
amazon link
for a new reef-pi, can I plug it into a surge protector or does it need to go directly into the wall?

Into the wall..... @Sral correct me if I am wrong.

Keep in mind it only looks like it switch 2 pair on and off.. so you cant use it to switch all 4 outlets.

Good point, maybe I should look at a different one. I was having trouble getting search results for this kind of thing. The one from the reef pi tutorial is the only other controllable one I've found

First: I have never done this.
When I debated making a controller with some raspberry picos, I was going to follow this guy's instructions

Anyone controlling orp or salinity off these ?
I had tested the orb probe from atlas. Since their ph, ore, EC and DO probe all uses the same i2c commands to get reading the ph ezo driver should work as it is. Calibration etc won't work, but you can get the probe running by reading and controlling any device with it

We have driver for this, and I tested it when I. initially wrote it, have not used it in a long time but this is the best wifi powerstrip, I felt. Its bit expensive
