Alright so I tested with Red Sea reef pro cal and mag. I miss read the chart and dosed both of them last night. I just came home to brown algae on my rocks. So I tested my ammonia nitrate nitrite an everything is at 0 ppm. Just tested cal with API test kit and it was about 23 24 drops = 460 to 480

The question is now how do I get rid of the brow. Algae. Is that break out dew to the dosing ?

Kill the lights and suspend feeding until it dies off. Then resume with less lights and feeding and adjust until it stays away but corals and corraline thhrive.

If I remember correctly, your tank is fairly new. Well if that is indeed the case, then you're going through the same thing that I'm going through. Looks like a diatom bloom, which should go away after awhile. As I was told. If your tank is new like I think, definitely stop dosing. As I dosed and am now dealing with cyano. Not sure if that was the only factor for my outbreak, but it may have been apart of it.

Brown algae is totally normal at the beginning. Nothing out of the norm. Don't worry about dosing much until you have accumulated a demand for it. That bare rock will inevitably be colonized by annoying algaes before the coraline algae

It'll grow, but it takes a solid 6 months to colonize the rocks. Any small amount is good enough for seeding.

When and how long was your Reef cycled ??? It looks to be Dry/Dead Rock and 40 days would be extremely early for addition of Corals, Shrimp and even most Fish. For dosing please stop, as you should only be dosing when the system is in need and you know exactly what your water prams and livestock consumption is. For long term success you need to be very slow and conscientious about adding livestock and allowing the system to mature in balance.

Cheers, Todd

The system is cycled and I said in the post I miss read the chart. The cycle was in 18 days full cycle. An I tested my water before adding coral an fish.

So even if the lvls are 0ppm are you saying that I can't add fish or coral. An the allk, mag and cal. Aare or should I say we're correct
