Hi

I have Reef radiance dm155e. .
How do i increase its light spread?

Currently the light is coming straight down from my two pendants for my 75g.

Is it easy to remove the optics In the dm155e for a 120 degree spread ?... has anyone done it?

Pls advice. ... thanks.
I have mine hung about 14-16" above the water line for a wider spread on the display. On my frag tank I removed the optics around the edge of the fixture to get some light close to the edges of the tank and I can still grow lower light corals there.

Thx. What dt and how many pendants u have?

I'll try that tonight. Is it easy to do it without screwing up? Thx again.

Three pendant over a 30" tall 210. I have SPS all the way to the bottom of the tank at 75%.

I noticed that the light was pretty focused as well. I have mine about 18" above the waterline.

Thanks. For one pendant I removed all optics. Now spread is good but intensity came down. I'm gonna remove optics around in outer perimeter only for the other pendant. ... and check. Let's see.

I also noticed optics magnify the light, and focus into a beam. Do they do anything else?

What the default optic angle for dm155e?

Just contact Rick and get some 120 degree optics on your light. Than you can get the light closer to water.

He default angle is 90 except on the cyan red and yellow/orange they are 120.
The new lights he has come with 120 around the edge.

Just change out the optics and you will be good.
14 seems far away with 120 you can cut that in half

By Rick u mean guy from reef radiance?

Can I buy 120 optics in eBay?

Yes [email protected]

If he doesn't have any the reef breeders site has them and they are the same optics. They have plenty from what I heard. I would see if Rick will send you some he might do it at no cost but don't quote me on this.

Emailed him.
If u were me. .. for my 75g/2 pendants. .... would u just put 120 optics around the edges alone. ... and keep the 90s in the rest of the bulbs?

Thanks

Well mine are 11 inches above water but not where I want them. I ordered all 120 for my lights so I can lower my lighting. My feeling is that the lights will have a better look with 120 because the light will blend together better. I know the the new ones Rick sells has gone to 120 on edges I think he did that because there wasn't enough light fill when lights were close to water.

What is the depth and height and length of your tank. If your tank is short depth wise you could try going half and half on optics or do all the iner LEDs except the edge. I would only do the edge if your tank is 24" deep front to back. Get the optics and play with it until you get what you like..

I have three lights. They are to high off the water for me. I would prefer not to look right at the LEDs so lower would be better. My tank top is 6.5' of ground. This is an older picture just showing for light reference.

Joe,
My 75g is 48x18dx21h inches.
Rick hasn't responded. I'll somehow get the 120 and fill them fully. Then I'll try removing just the edges.

Is there anything better than 120 lol?

Wonder if I get the 120s (optics) from eBay. .. would it fit the dm155e ?about to buy this soon. What do u think?
I need 84 pieces for 2 pendants as per reef radiance new version for dm155e.
http://m.ebay.com/it...Id=151275948992

Would love to just replace the perimeter and color ones except blue and white, with 120s.

Thanks both of u;)

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reef breaders has the same optics. You could do the edge only like the newest version of DM 155E but I would do all of them you'll get a nice spread from all LEDs and they will mix well.

HI guys,

Have not been on this forum for a while - the move is crazy.

We just replaced the outer row of optics on the DM-155e with 120 degree optics and this has been a huge hit.

Does anyone here have the 2014 model - and would still want more spread?

Rick

Rick,
I have a 30x30x16" tank, and I've got a 2014 DM-155e, and I'd like a bit more spread. What's the best way to get it? Thank you!

Hi Bad Company,

How wide is the spread you have now and how high is the light above the water?

rick

Hi Rick i have the new version. i have a spot light effect also. mine is going to be about 6 in when mount is built. can i switch to all 120's. tank is 18in to sand bed

Hey Rick,
I have my light about 20" above the water, and that just barely covers my 30X30X16" tank. It spotlights a bit in the center still:

The iPhone pic accentuates the spotlighting, it doesn't appear quite so severe in person, but what should I do?

Thank you!
