I ordered my Lumentek 180 about 5 weeks ago and am eager to get them over my brand new 93 gallon rimless setup. I performed the move over 2 days from a 75 gallon tank (move was not only to a new tank but a new house as well!). I am currently using my 'old' PC lighting from my 75 gallon tank which isn't ideal. I'm ready to put the polish on the new tank so I can feel more at home in the new house.

Attached are photos of my new setup. For size reference, the big frogspawn is about the size of a basketball.

I have had mine running since late March.

The pros: I love the color, the ability to control, and the overall look. The setup wasn't too bad. It just took some time.

The cons thus far have been trying to figure out coral growth. My SPS started bleaching so I turned it down from max of 65% to 55% as it ramps through the day. They still are not looking great. My LPS have been the surprise though. My hammer looks depleted and is never puffy. My acans haven't shown much growth, and their colors haven't looked great. For softies: My sinularia has shrunk, but my GSP and Xenia are growing like weeds. I have had LEDs before (ecoxotic panorama pros) but mostly have had t5HOs. I don't know if I am just not dialing in my intensity correctly or what, but my corals do not seem to be doing all that well. Something could be in the water too, but testing hasn't shown any changes.

Here's my newly set up 50 gallon rimless cube with the Lumentek 120. So far I only have 3 small frags in there and a pair of clowns and clean up crew. I did hours upon hours of research when setting up my tank. I stumbled upon Reef Radiance in the forums and heard nothing but positive reviews.

You should buy these light because they are by far the most cost effective led lights out there. They have far more spread than a Eco light and don't cost $750 each. Unfortunately I don't have the most recent light of the 155e model but the new ones have a better optics pattern not to say mine aren't great. What an energy savings over my old MH setup. I bought these lights because of the great customer service and fast shipping. Rick was willing to answer any questions I had and even emailed back to me at hours of the day none else would ever do. You can't go wrong with ordering your new led lights from Rick and you won't be disappointed. Very affordable and you get more than what you pay for with these lights. I will gladly buy again if I add more tanks to my home. Also on another note I have had good coral growth even with my SPS. I have a mixed reef and I acclimated everything over time. I'm still not at 100% on either channel of the three lights

Sorry I know you can't see my corals to well in the fts but you can see the lights. I will add some up close pictures for you to see though. Also not easiest to take photos with Ipad under led lights

The new controllers are in Beta testing and we will announce when I get my hand on them and put them through their paces. I expect them in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, it was still gaining time consistently. I actually just put different lights over my tank yesterday...a pair of AI Hydras. I can already tell that there are going to be some things I like better about these and some things I like better about my Lumentek. I documented my coral growth under the RR lights for two months, and am going to do the same with the Hydras...then make a hard decision.

Why the spot light effect?

I haven't hung my 180 yet (waiting on stand) and I'm getting a little discouraged. From the pics I'm seeing spot light effects and the timers are all funky. Just yesterday I had my unit out just to look see only to find my remote doesn't work. I'll try replacing the battery before I make a stink. But I am wondering.....was this the wrong decision?

Hopefully this does not come off impolite- but you are fretting over something you haven't even used yet. You have more posts on this light than probably any one of this forum and you haven't even used it.

Set it up and decide it you like it.

And then if you have any problem - we will take care of it.

As to the functionally of the new controller - it is the same features and functions but we are just correcting some issues. As you know version 1.1 is a new version and like any other electronics from any manufacturer - a few will go bad.

We are going to replace those and move on to our next light - which I can't talk about yet.....LOL

I forwarded your email to the Evergrow factory with all the details added and did not cc you on it. Sorry about that - I was sure I had. I did not like their original answer " make sure the customer is using the SAVE function " as I know you know that so I pushed back and said you and I have already spent enough time on this and wanted a simple answer. I don't want to just send you another controller - unless I am convinced that is truly the problem.

I will keep you in the loop on what their engineers come up with.

My concerns are legit, thank you for easing my worries. About setting up a light that others are having issues with. This being the only light I'll have on my brand new setup. Makes me feel very secure transferring my 5yr old corals over.

I got the replacement controller a day or two ago but I'm working overtime all week so I won't have a chance to install it until Sunday.
