I think this is an awesome idea. The only issue I see is how close the mounts are above the fans. It might not disperse the heat quite as easily since the fans for the fixture are on top. Although, my fans still have not turned on, since I have been running mine at 50% max and it has only reached 44 degrees c

I built a hood myself not done yet but I drilled a hole and passed through the wire to hang the unit through the hole to allow it to hang about 2 in down plus I left the middle open for ventilation. When I finish it I will post a pic it is not complete yet so it is on my tank backwards lol just so I can use my light.

Here's my story. I hope no one gets angry at me. Rick is the best. I ordered my Lumentek Pro 180 on 3/20. I think I emailed Rick maybe 2 days later(yeah I was over anxious). He emailed me right back explaining that it takes about 3 weeks, but for you it may be less. Closer to 2 weeks he said. Well Like I said, ordered on 3/20. Light shipped on 3/25. And it arrived at 3/28. Yeah I know 8 days. Only problem is I didn't get it until 4/2. No fault of Rick's. FedEx...delivered my light to the rental office and didn't even let me know it was there. They made no attempt to deliver it to me. No even a notice left, telling me the light was at the office. I really dislike FedEx, but I love my new fixture. Thanks so much Rick for offering a great product. And thank you even more for your great customer service. Here is a tank shot. Tank cycling atm, 40B.

I may have mine too close to the water I have about 4 or 5 in above and running 50% blue and 40 white at peak the pic was this morning at about 12% white and 15% blue I may need to bring it down a little I have mine in a home made hood and maybe tonight I can take pics and post it. Love this light it is awesome and one day and my frogspawn looks happier though my purple polyp carpet may be getting singed a little since he is on top of the rock

Why would anyone get angry? Sometimes FedEx sucks-lol. No fault of your own. I'd be upset at them as we know for a fact the RR requires a signature for delivery! Who signed for yours?

I was being funny when saying you guys might be angry with me. Almost everyone on this thread had to wait a pretty long time for their fixture and I received mine in 8 days. That's why I said don't be angry with me. Kind of a fnny.

We REALLY need some updates on RR lights performance! I just got done reading a not so good review on the dm-155 and I'm a little nervous. Anyone had their RR lights up and running for more then a month?

I really like mine(Lumentek pro 240). I bought the mount but there is a little too much shading on the outer edges of my 4 ft. tank. Here is the hanger I will build. Paint it black. It should looking good. Building a Light Rack from Conduit | reef tools/

I have had mine for a month or so. I have had zero issues (exept for my button polyps don't see to care too much for the increased wattage of the ReefRadiance over my old lights!)

some people are not versed in the way to use LED and some look for reasons not to like them I would not worry about one post because there is over 1000 about how good they are I love my 180

The more feedback we get the better we will be able to tune the lights in to the ideal settings. The ones that have had the lights for awhile need to add their input on what works and what does'nt. I'm sure there is a learning curve to all LED lights and finding that sweet spot may take a little time. With T5's and HID's all we had to do was turn them on, now we have all of this control which can be a little challenging to get right.
