I just ordered a Lumentek Pro 240 and their mount last night for my 65g. I am starting to think about how I am going to set up the program. If anyone that is currently using the light would like to share the programming they are using to give me an idea of how to set it that would be great. Also, I currently have 2 x 150w HQI and 2 x39w T5HO actinic over my tank. How high would you suggest running the Lumentek at the beginning to acclimate?

Thanks

I just ordered a LumenTek 120, but it's not here yet. You should read this thread, lots of good info: https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/eq...ght-emitting-diodes-light-omg-what-light.html

I am interested in finding an example program to start with.. I know each tank is different but it would be nice to get a good starting point. Maybe someone will post theirs or feel free to send me one via pm... I ordered 2 and they should be here soon

Blues on at 2PM at 10%
Blues to 20% at 2:30
Blues to 30% at 3:00

Whites on at 4:00 at10%
Blues to 50% at 4:00
Whites to 20% at 4:30
Whites to 30% at 5:00

Reverse steps starting at 8:00PM to 10:00PM
Moonlights on at 10% from 10:00PM to Midnight.

Thanks. That gives me some ideas to start with.

Also, I am going from a 2 x 150w MH fixture to a Lumentek 240. Can anyone give me a suggestion of a good intensity to start with? I don't want to melt my coral, but I don't want to deprive them either.

I think regardless of the type of lighting you are transitioning from, you shouldn't start your LEDs out much higher than in the 30's for percentage for either channel, at least at first. If even for a couple weeks. If things seems to take it well, bump it up after a couple weeks, slowly, like 5% from original values. When I put LEDs over my 30g frag tank I started both channels in the 20's and left it for a month before changing it. Keep your increases small and infrequent and you'll eventually get to where you want to be.

Also remember though the blues don't seem bright, cranking that channel too high can scorch your corals without you realizing.

Good luck!

Thanks KJ. I am thinking I will start around 30% on the blues and 20% on the whites.

Also, are you guys running your moon lights all night? If so, what percent?

I do not run mine all night. Lights come on at 10 a.m. and ramp up and back down with moonlights for the last two hours of the evening, 9 pm and 10 pm. Complete dark at 11 pm.

The moonlights on these fixtures are still pretty bright to leave on all night IMO.
