Reef Raft Asia/Canada

Last I heard Jay is closing. Went by there yesterday there was a sign up by his store saying he was closed for the day

Shipwreck cove corals is a vendor here and they sell RRA corals.

Is Jay from 2 guys?

He's the owner of the original Reef Raft. I feel like RR Asia (international?) has cheapened the Reef Raft name. They've just slapped a name and a high price on too many mediocre corals.

It's all confusing to me...

Agreed. It's gotten pretty ridiculous.

The corals that made reef raft famous have long since perished in their systems. Those original corals were spectacular, colored up, and appeared very healthy. They were also $100-$150 per frag... Now you've got resellers of reef raft Asia/international (whatever that means!) slapping higher prices on common and very average corals, and many of those resellers couldn't color up those corals if their lives depended on it.

Two guys corals is the ONLY reef raft and A L retailer in the US. Theres not 1 other person.

On the other hand, the colonys they buy are cherry picked from 10s of thousands of colonys and grown out for months in the ocean, then grown in a facility before getting shipped to about(from what ive gathered) 10 loyal customers, two guys corals is the only one in the us. The rrc and asia colonys have been growing out for years on end. The only time you see rra/rrc slapped on a coral is because the grower grows multiple colonys witch at the time rra/rrc either got first dibs, or just bought it before tgc had opened.

Im all for the pricing getting rediculous. Not even for colonys, for pieces! BUT i know the support and love that they built their operation is into, and that more then justifies the money spent for me.

They absolutely dont buy maricultued colonys to flip for money as quick as they could. And to be honest they prob the only ones that dont do that. Because at the price they pay for those colonys, they not risking to loose it over a frag. Ive seen them take months on end before even buying the colonys, then months after that to frag and sell.

Theirs only 2 suppliers slapping reef raft toward the trend, although its not my buisness, if i were to even spend that type of money, id know where it came from before i bought it thats for sure.

A few of your statements could be argued, esp the one about not flipping mari colonies. That's how all the drama started with these other pink cadillac pieces floating around that came from them. But we can leave all that drama for facebook.

Lololol yup theirs tons of fakes. You got yours from top shelf right? Anyway But im not sure how to consider if they are the mariculture we all think of. Their collected upon indo shipments, and grown both in aquaculture and in the ocean for a very long time before their sold to tgc or rra/c. Then its up to them to frag them up.

Just to pass this by, im not sticking up for tgc at all. I just all for the guy who owns these pieces.

On the otherhand, the whole pink cadillac stuff is a whole different ball game. Ive seen 100s ofcolonys pop up everywhere of lookalikes that ive even took screenshots of, and i already know theres people trying to pass it off without a reciept.
