Reef Raft (RR) Jaw Dropper Acro

as far as diamonds and all that crap go..i agree, and thats why my gf knows that when i pop the question shes getting cubic lol.

p.s its not just the price of diamonds i dont like its the whole trade itself

Lol Well, no one can fault you for being inconsistent. ;)

Yeah they have it for sale but it was written that if it looks like it exactly, same coralites same colors it wont get the same price tag because its not from RR? Do you guys realize how silly that sounds? Like I said marketing geniuses. Guess I wont drink the koolaid with others when it comes to this subject. Makes absolute no sense. When it comes to real products like clothes and electronics yes people spend more money to get named merchandise because of better materials used. Dont understand how just because a coral passed the front door of a vendor collects a bigger price tag? It was a wild colony that they claim they held onto for a year big deal. And as for diamonds collecting a price tag, the difference is when you buy a rare diamond you cannot grow another one when its in your possession so that dont really make sense as a comparison :)

The reason it commands more of a price from reef raft is it is a proven piece. The have had it in captivity for a while and it has kept its color and grown well. A lot of really nice wild and Mari pieces do t make it or shift color after a while

If you buy dukes jaw dropper. You don't have the reputation to prove it will hold the color shown in the pics. You may have just got it in yesterday as a wild piece and it may die 2 weeks from now. We don't know because you don't have the same rep as reef raft

But if you have the same coral and can prove it has grown well and held its color. Over time
Then. dukes jaw dropper will command the same price

Lineage is more about the reputation of the dealer that you are not getting a chop shop piece without any guarantees of color or growth.

So what you are saying is that "brand names" among corals is still about quality. ;) A very solid point.

yes,

this is where the whole tyree thing started. steve tyree used to hold corals and make sure they were proven in captivity before releasing them. sort of like ORA.

alot of places have taken the naming thing too far,but with some places names and quality exist and thats why we look for lineaged pieces

I think I'm seeing some changes however I could be just projecting.

Anyone know anything about lighting specification for this piece. I'm inclined to move it up higher. I have radium 200k 250w 8 hours with 65cm for the depth of the tank and the lights are 30cm above the surface of the water. Right now it's sitting in the middle of the tank.

Love the tank! I think we need a FTS. ;)

The tank is inside a private kindergarten so I have pictures and information of the inhabitants on the wall with both scientific and common names. I also have essential equipment post it up there too.

Kids love the tank!

That is so cool. I love it too lol

We teach kids about reef ecosystems and how pollution and global warming is hurting all the living creatures.

Our students are very environmentally conscious!

Global warming??? Environmentally conscious? (I'm sure Ur teaching the kids it's all man made) ....but then ur keeping a super inefficient salt water fish tank, with SPS corals and 1000w+ of lighting....

Ironic?? Lol
