So I have been battling a higher phosphate issue which seems to be fueling the green hair algae in my tank. I have a great skimmer, I use RODI water, I don't feed that much, I change out my filter floss 2x per week and I run chemipure blue and purigen. I also have been doing larger water changes every week. I have a jbj 45 and I do typically 15-20gal per week.
After the 15 gal water change this week, my phosphates were at .24ppm and my nitrates were around 2. I then fed reefroids, which I think is my problem. I only feed 1/8th of a tsp (nearly 1/4 the "recommended" dose), but somehow my phosphates rose to .42 ans my nitrates to 10 after... Should I just feed each coral less next time or what? I have been thinking about running a gfo and or an algae reactor to help cut down on water changes too.
