So... I mix up some Reef Roids with tank water, switch off all flow in the tank, squirt onto the Hammers... Some tentacles close up, as though "taking in" the particles. But i notice there's still a lot floating above the polyps in a soft of slime coating. After about 15 minutes when i turn the pumps back on, this coating gets blown around. Looks like snot blowing around the tank... Is this normal? What is this slime? Is it the coral's way of "capturing" food particles? Should i wait longer before i turn the pumps back on?

I haven’t seen that yet. Granted I’ve only had my hammer for 2 weeks and when I have feed it’s usually there one minute and gone the next. Hammers and frogspawn are fed first as they usually take the longest to eat for me.

Mine do that every time I feed reef roids. I normally feed them first so they can suck up more of the gooey foods while my other corals are more instantaneous about consuming. I normally leave my pump and power heads off for about 30 minutes. That also gives me some time to shoot my few aiptasia and vermetid snails.
