I am looking for something exactly like a binder clip, but reef-safe.

I know regular clips would work, but it'd stick out too much, I need something strong to hold a light to my refugium that doesn't stick out. Binder clip would be flushed to the top where I can keep the lid on, and is strong.

anything out there that I can use?

I'm not aware of any binder clips that are produced using saltwater proof materials. I wouldn't risk using a normal one either since I've heard of several tanks having issues from something as small as a razor blade falling in the tank.

exactly.. which is why I am on the hunt for something that's reef-safe that's just like it. it'd be perfect if it wasn't metal, lol

Does it have to provide a squeezing force or could you build a bracket?

Guy I've done business with several times, makes 3d printed items for the reefing crowd. I needed some specific design clamps and so forth, sent him a basic sketch, and he was able to produce them for me, at what I consider a very reasonable price. He might be able to come up with something for you.

You could also try using a rubberizing dip for the binder clip, assuming you were going to put it in place once and leave it. The products can seal metal items completely, but tend to crack and flake off if bent/manipulated a bunch. Plasti-kote or Flex seal should work - though I would probably use two or three applications.

The light I have is small refugium light, but it's only suction cup, does not clip on. It doesn't stick too well to the HOB filter, so a clamp of some sort would be ideal to hold it up by the suction cup. The light is pretty heavy and I don't want it to move. the clip is not under water, it's about half an inch above waterline, but I still don't want the risk. I also want to have the lid on best as it can, so flushed to the top would be ideal, like a binder clip would.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I will look into the guy with the 3D printer. Something will have to come up!
I don't think I'll be touching the clip too much, so dipping/rubberizing may be a good idea too.
Tarp clip looks like it'll stick out too much, I won't be able to put the lid on
