Hey, im moving to a house i bought finally! I want to store my tanks water in those orange Home Depot buckets. Will it be safe for a few hours? Will it leach anything bad in the water? Im sure they are HDPE.

I just bought some from Rona. They are white and say hdpe.

I use the white one from Lowe's as my top off reservoir for the past 2 years with no issues. Pretty sure the Home Depot ones are the same.

Congrats on the home!!! I use the orange HD buckets all the time with no issues. Actually just used them when I moved 8 months ago.

i use the orange for the ro/di water with a float and use them for mixing new water for over a year. No problems that i have found

Thanks for the reassurance guys.

I know Randy has said before hdpe is safe for high ph solutions even limewater.

I was just concerned of the dye in it, thats why i got white.

I always look at it this way....you have a lot invested in your fish and others. Always ask around. As always...I look at it this as with food, in doubt throw it out or don't use it.
