Hello everyone,

I recently bought a used 240 gallon starphire aquarium. It had lots of coralline algae built up on the glass. I used a razor to get it off but noticed the hazy look in the glass. Muriatic acid doesnt even take it off. I've come to the conclusion that the glass must be etched.
My question is, is there a black paint or epoxy that is reef safe to use inside of the tank? I'm afraid if I paint the outside of the tank that it will still be visible. Thank you for any advice.

Have you tried filling it with fresh water just to see if it is visible? I have seen this before but the haziness seems to go away when it is filled with water again.

I don't think there is a paint I would personally use on glass INSIDE the tank. Plumbing and plastics Krylon Fusion works well. That doesn't stick to glass well though.

There is reef safe epoxy people use when building plywood tanks. I don't know how well it would adhere to glass though. I would fill it with water first and see if its visible, you most likely won't be able to see it once its filled.
