(Reef-Safe) Metal clamps, that do not rust or corrode (Help)

The plastic (snap) clamps just don't do the job for myself.
I still like the old metal screw on claps that bite into the tubing.

Does somebody make metal clamps that do not rust or corrode in salt water and is reef-safe?

I have a one 1" metal clamp that comes into contact with salt water (once a week) during the water change, in the sump, while the main pump is off.

If nobody makes what I'm looking for, then I'm going run a protective layer of silicone around the entire clamp.

I encased the SS clamp in silicone.

Unfortunately, they too will corrode in time. Just not as fast, nor will they release iron. TI's aluminum composition will corrode in contact with salt water.

They don't stay on and it's a design flaw with the Red Sea / Sicce return pump.
The nipple only comes out about 1/2" for the 1" hose to clamp on to, and the pump is rated at 1,850 gallons per hour.

I guess, that I could call Red Sea USA and see if they have came out with an upgraded (longer) hose nipple.

I don't know, I picked it up at Home Depot.

It was showing some tad signs of steel rusting, so I totally encased it in 100% Dap silicone.
The reef is doing just fine, but I'm not taking any chances.

Your welcome. Just trying to help. Your right, the pumps barbed connection is way too short. Is the barbed end molded to the pump? Can it be unthreaded off the pump?

They work better than the pinch close ones

They are used on marineland canister filters, so yes.

Yes, I can unscrew the connection from the pump. The nipple (barb) is a separate piece than the nut.

Have no clue what Red Sea and Sicce were thinking with that (short barb) design?

I don't have a comfort level after reading forum responses regarding the use of stainless steel clamps.
If it's only the screw that corrodes, does that make make the s/s clamp safe or harmful if used in salt water aquariums?

Are you contemplating using a ss clamp?

if so, the exact type of stainless steel is critical. Some are OK and some corrode more rapidly.

I've found zip ties to be great alternatives to hose clamps.
