I'm wondering what everyone uses to clean their filter socks? I was thinking of using borax which is just boron and oxygen, is that safe?

Also for washing hands, what's the best? I saw a product by neutrogena made of glycerine only I think that could be good?

Most people use vinegar or bleach if you bleach it just need to be dried well from what I have read

Just throw your socks in the washing machine with vinegar. Hot wash. They come out nice and clean and no need to rinse afterward.

I soak mine in a bleach solution. Then into the washing machine. (I rinse the washing machine two times before doing it. I want no soap residue.) Then I put the socks in and add dechlorinator in the rinse cycle. And hang out outside in the sunshine to eliminate any chance of bleach.

Buy some sodium percarbonate, the active ingredient in oxyclean. When put in water it produces hydrogen peroxide - I do a load of filter socks and put the percarbonate powder in the spot for dry detergent, it works very well. I only use about 1 tablespoon for a high efficiency washer. The percarbonate breaks down to water, oxygen and sodium carbonate. After the rinse cycle you have some clean socks and don't have to worry about remaining bleach if you want to use them right away and not totally dry.

just toss it in the washing machine.. hit the extra hot cycle and let it go for about 25 min.. I do not add soaps or anything to the wash..

A splash of bleach, hot cycle, and a couple days of dry time in a window sill.

What's with the bleach for filter socks? What are you trying to kill that a quick wash in the machine with hot water and maybe some vinegar doesn't get rid of?

I use vinegar for the regular wash for my work clothes and such. Gets work smells out.

I use vinigar works great its cheaper cleaner on the enviroment , hydrogen peroxide sound good as well I got the 30% food grade will try it out when its time to wash socks again
